Whether you want to play top class competitive rugby, or have the occasional run out with your mates, Imperial Medicals RFC is the choice for rugby at Imperial College London.

A club steeped in history and tradition dating back to 1865, Imperial Medicals are the most successful team in United Hospitals history, winning the oldest competition in rugby union a glorious 51 times. On a Wednesday afternoon, we field three teams in BUCS with our First XV competing in BUCS South East 2B. The club has a reputation for producing a number of international players, as well as fully retiring others. Whilst offering a chance for players wanting to perform at an elite level, IMRFC has a team for anyone irrespective of their ability.

Rugby however, is not all that IMRFC has to offer. We have a great club spirit, and whilst having fun on the pitch, we also have fun off the pitch. The club is the heart of Wednesday sports, other social events and can always be seen supporting all other teams within the Medical School. We have two domestic tours a year, Cornwall tour over Easter weekend is the longest running annual sports tour in the world; celebrating its 93rd anniversary in 2017. IMRFC also has an upcoming international tour to Capetown in 2019. Recently the club has invested significant time in developing an educational support programme for its members, offering tutorials for first and seconds years, whilst also providing mock examinations for those more advanced in their studies. This also saw the formation of a new welfare role on the committee to ensure that members of the club have pastoral support throughout their time at ICSM.

The club holds training sessions on Mondays and Thursdays, hosted by three external coaches. Weekly skills, strength and conditioning sessions are also available.  We also compete in the UH (United Hospitals) competition on a Saturday, one of the oldest Rugby Cup competitions in the world.

If you are new to the university you will be able to find our stand at freshers’ fair behind a large group of girls who will be fighting over the very best of IMRFC, or if you are an old friend looking to rekindle links with the club, please do not hesitate in making contact, we’d love to hear from you.
